An exclusive series of short countryside walks and long leisurely lunches at the UK’s top gastropubs. Outstanding netwalking and culinary experiences for business leaders. This promises to be a walk – and a lunch – to remember.
We’ll set out past the remains of Cistercian Whalley Abbey, crossing the River Calder to climb the steep escarpment of the Nab, before rejoining the river and recrossing to enter the stately parkland of Read Hall.
From here we head up the Sabden Valley then start the steep ascent of the foothills of Pendle, crossing the ridge between an Iron Age hillfort and the remote grave of an executed medieval robber. After admiring the views out over the Ribble Valley, we’ll descend sharply to the fellside village of Wiswell and the welcoming delights of the Freemasons.
Currently ranked 5th in the Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastro-pubs in the UK, chef Stephen Smith serves up classic English cuisine with a contemporary twist in a relaxed and convivial environment.
