Tell us about your first Freshwalks?

I was a walking virgin but was intrigued as to how I could meet new people doing something different – so I went out and bought the wrong gear (an oversized bag and fashion boots) and loved it.

How many have you attended?

Most of them I think.

Why do you come back?

FOMO, meeting new people, learning from them, helping them, book recommendations and the exercise.

What’s your favourite route?

Difficult as I enjoy them all, probably Edale to Grindsbrook via Kinder Scout (good challenge and spectacular views)

The one thing you always bring?

Jaffa Cakes.

Favourite Freshwalks memory?

Sliding down the hill in the snow!

Has Freshwalks led to any business or opportunity?

Yes, I developed a relationship with someone I met which led to direct business specifically, I’m sure there are many other ways which I’ve helped the UKFast brand by attending consistently too (I often say if I don’t do this, my competitors might!).

Recommend three people you have met on Freshwalks?

Andrew Ramwell, John Shinnick, Heather Gray.

How does Freshwalks challenge typical networking formats?

I suppose it’s the fact that it is so different and the initial one thing we have in common with each other is the walking element, this makes it so easy to speak to complete strangers and develop long-lasting relationships.

Freshwalks is a combination of exercise, networking, sharing knowledge and thinking time. How do you balance those components?

There are so many components which make up a Freshwalk and I try and make sure that I enjoy my time, so I make the most of the hours and people I spend that time with.

Sum up Freshwalks in three words.

Challenging, Enjoyable, Worthwhile.
