Brown Lowe – Adam Hill – Two Lads – Brown Hill – Rivington Pike – Winter Hill
A late celebration of the 125th anniversary of the Winter Hill Trespass (September 6, 1896 ), this route retraces the steps of the factory workers who struck a stunning blow for the right to roam by defying land-owners, game-keepers and the police to reach the summit of Winter Hill and assert their rights of access across the moors.
We’ll pay tribute at the memorial to their efforts near the summit of winter hill, before descending to Rivington Tower and returning via the edge of the moors – offering extensive views over the Lancashire plain.
