Marple – Peak Forest Canal – Strines – Roman Lakes – Marple
A splendid canal and riverside walk south of Marple. This route is a perfect entry level walk for Freshwalkers of all abilities and those with limited time to join us.
Our route sees us heading south out of Marple along the Peak Forest Canal where we’ll enjoy the increasingly semi-rural waterside surroundings at a gentle pace.
After about an hour, we leave the canal and head in the direction of Strines before following the river back into Marple Bridge via the Roman Lakes.
We should arrive back around 13.15 where we’ll head to a suitable cafe or pub for refreshments and some optional lunch.
