Supermoon: Midnight on Kinder

Edale – Jacob’s Ladder – Kinder Low – Grindslow Knoll – Edale

Welcome to Freshwalks and a special Supermoon event in the highest part of the Peak District. This promises to be a mesmerising and atmospheric experience amidst the solitude and ancient gritstone tors of Kinder Scout.

We plan to start the walk from the Old Nag’s Head, Edale at 21:00. With reasonable progress we should arrive at Kinder Low for around 23:30 and will look to stop somewhere on the southern edges of Kinder for a midnight sharing feast within the group. We’ll still be up high above 600m by 01:00 the following morning just before the moon reaches meridian (357,298km from earth, 99.9% illumination, 22.9 degrees above horizon).

We expect to arrive back in Edale around 02:00. Walkers may want to consider camping options and of course we’ll need to be as quiet as possible returning back through the village.

Freshwalkers can also arrive earlier in the evening and enjoy some pub food with fellow walkers before starting our walk.
