Fjallraven Manchester – Castlefield – Bridgewater Canal – Chorlton Brook – Sale Water Park
Welcome to Freshwalks and stage 1 of the GM Ringway, the brand new long distance (300km) walking route for Greater Manchester. The creator of GM ringway, Dr Andrew Read will be leading the walk.
This inaugural stage uses historic canal towpaths, pedestrian walkways, urban parkland and the Trans Pennine Trail to trace a largely traffic-free and tranquil route from the city centre to the verdant Mersey Valley.
Walkers are invited to join the Fjallraven team for coffee and pastries at 10am at the city centre shop before we set off. The walk will end at 2pm in the large beer garden at Jackson’s Boat pub which backs onto the River Mersey and Transpennine Trail.
