Disley & Lyme Park

Route: Disley – Lyme Park – Bowstones – Macclesfield Canal – Ladybrook Valley Interest Trail – Disley

We’re heading to Disley, Cheshire which sits on the fringes of the Peak District and provides easy access to the National Trust estate at Lyme Park. We intend to stop at the park cafe about an hour into the walk. After this short break we’ll begin to climb steadily uphill up onto the moors where we’ll enjoy panoramic views back to Manchester and across Cheshire. Our route then descends across the moors and through some wonderful woodlands where we’ll find a suitable picnic spot. Subject to progress we’ll enjoy a quick refreshments stop at the Boar’s Head public house, Higher Poynton, on the Middlewood Way. Thereafter it’s a gentle ramble back to Disley via the Macclesfield Canal and meandering Ladybrook Valley Interest Trail.
