Glossop

Our original Freshwalks location, charming market town Glossop, is the perfect base for hikers, cyclists and lovers of the outdoors. The town forms a north-western gateway to the beautiful Peak District National Park and Derbyshire, allowing visitors to venture into the rugged moorland and expansive Dark Peak in no time.

Nestled at the foot of the famous Snake Pass, the town sits on a hustling junction of ramblers’ routes, such as the classic Longdendale Trail, the Pennine Bridleway, the Trans Pennine Trail and the Pennine Way. Some of our favourite sceneries include the mysterious mountain range of Bleaklow and the mesmerising Kinder Scout, both home to historical plane wrecks. Glossop trials promise a bit of everything: rolling green hills, magnificent reservoirs, cloud-licked mountains and even tumbling waterfalls!

The cosy town, which dates back to the 12th century, boasts its prosperous past with stone cottages, renovated cotton mills and a medieval market cross. Upon returning to picturesque Glossop, weary walkers are greeted by a host of traditional pubs and quaint shops, plenty to entertain visitors.
